One of the best ways to save money at the grocery store is by making a list before you go. If you go without a plan, you could easily spend more money than he needs to. Be as specific as you can when you are making a list.

Make sure you use coupons. As much of a hassle as it seems, it can be worth it. As long as you are spending hours and hours each week finding and organizing your coupons, it can be a huge way to save money. Use a simple system to file and keep track of your coupons and just use coupons from the weeklies of your grocery store, coupons from direct packaging, and any other coupons or easy to find. Do you normally buy store brand, or do you buy brand-name items? When buying store brand you can save a lot of money. Often, the store brand goods are just as good as brand-name items. If they’re a couple items that you just can’t go store brand with, and they aren’t too expensive as the brand-name, then you can give in, but otherwise stick with store brand.

Do you use a store loyalty card? If you don’t, you should really sign up for one. You can save a lot more money. Sure, Wal-Mart says that it was have low prices and you don’t need a card, but if you don’t have a Wal-Mart near you or don’t desire to go to one, use the card at your store. You need to save money wherever you can, and using card is a no-brainer.

If you take some time to plan out your shopping, you can also save more money. You can see at what is on sale and buy in bulk the things that are on sale. You can really do this with fresh fruits and vegetables, but other items such as cleaning supplies, hygiene items, boxed and canned items, etc. you can.

You’d be surprised how much money you can save possibly planning out your grocery shopping. You might be able to cut your bill in half or even more. Take your time, plan it out, and save more money.
